Requirements

Kitchen Staff are responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and delivery of food services for various events, including weddings, corporate functions, private parties, and other gatherings. This role is essential for ensuring that the kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the events.


Responsibilities

  1. Food Preparation

    • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables, meats, and other components.

    • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and specifications.

    • Assist in the preparation of appetizers, salads, main courses, and desserts.

  2. Cooking Assistance

    • Support chefs and cooks in various cooking tasks such as grilling, baking, frying, and boiling.

    • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is cooked safely and correctly.

    • Assist in plating and garnishing dishes to ensure they meet presentation standards.

  3. Kitchen Maintenance and Cleanliness

    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, including counters, utensils, and equipment.

    • Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen tools.

    • Dispose of waste and recycle materials appropriately.

  4. Inventory Management

    • Assist in receiving and storing food supplies and ingredients.

    • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to supervisors.

    • Ensure that all food items are properly labeled and stored to maintain freshness and comply with safety standards.

  5. Event Support

    • Assist in the setup and breakdown of kitchen and food service areas at event venues.

    • Help with the transportation of food and catering equipment to and from events.

    • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and timely food service during events.

  6. Team Collaboration

    • Work closely with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

    • Follow instructions and be flexible in handling various kitchen tasks.

    • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a cohesive and productive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary training or coursework is an asset.

  • Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is beneficial but not mandatory.

  • Certifications: Food safety and handling certification preferred.

Work Environment


Catering Company Kitchen Staff work in fast-paced and dynamic environments, including commercial kitchens and on-site at various event venues. Shifts may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.


This position provides a solid foundation for advancing to higher culinary roles, such as line cook, sous chef, or head chef, with experience and additional training.
